Control Paraffin Wax in Oil Applications

Paraffin wax deposition is one of the most common flow assurance challenges in oil production. As crude oil cools during extraction, dissolved paraffin crystallizes and deposits on pipe walls, restricting flow and reducing production rates.

This case study examines an oil field where paraffin wax buildup was causing frequent production shutdowns. Wells required regular hot oil treatments and mechanical scraping, leading to significant operational costs.

Merus Rings were installed on the wellhead flow lines. Within the first two months, operators observed a measurable reduction in wax deposition. The frequency of hot oil treatments was reduced from monthly to quarterly, and in some wells, eliminated entirely.
