Enhancing three-phase separation efficiency in oil and gas processing facilities.
The separation of crude oil into its constituent components of oil, gas, and water is a fundamental process in oil production. Efficient separation is critical for meeting export quality specifications and environmental regulations.
At a major separation facility, Merus technology was applied to improve the separation process. The Merus Rings were installed upstream of the separator vessels, where they influenced the properties of the incoming fluid mixture.
The installation resulted in cleaner separation with less carryover between phases. Water quality from the separator improved, reducing the load on downstream water treatment systems. Oil quality also improved, meeting export specifications more consistently.
